Jesus Loves Me

Anna Bartlett Warner

An American writer, novelist, and Bible teacher (1827–1915). She lived on Constitution Island near the West Point Military Academy, where she taught Bible studies to generations of cadets. Warner wrote the words to 'Jesus Loves Me' in 1860 as a comforting poem for a dying child in a novel co-written with her sister. The simple poem became a global anthem of faith, sung by children and adults alike as a reminder of the unconditional love of Christ.

Jesus loves me! This I know,
For the Bible tells me so;
Little ones to Him belong;
They are weak, but He is strong.
Yes, Jesus loves me!
Yes, Jesus loves me!
Yes, Jesus loves me!
The Bible tells me so.
Jesus loves me! He who died
Heaven's gate to open wide;
He will wash away my sin,
Let His little child come in.
Yes, Jesus loves me!
Yes, Jesus loves me!
Yes, Jesus loves me!
The Bible tells me so.
Jesus loves me! loves me still,
Though I'm very weak and ill;
From His shining throne on high
Comes to watch me where I lie.
Yes, Jesus loves me!
Yes, Jesus loves me!
Yes, Jesus loves me!
The Bible tells me so.
Jesus loves me! He will stay
Close beside me all the way;
Thou hast bled and died for me,
I will henceforth live for Thee.
Yes, Jesus loves me!
Yes, Jesus loves me!
Yes, Jesus loves me!
The Bible tells me so.
