Every day we place our trust in someone or something. We trust that our family will keep their word, that a friend will stand by us, that our employer will pay us, that a doctor will provide the right care, or that tomorrow will unfold as we expect. Yet people can disappoint us, promises can be broken, and circumstances can change without warning. The Bible therefore calls us to place our ultimate trust not in people, wealth, or our own understanding, but in the Lord. God alone is perfectly faithful, always keeps His promises, and never fails those who put their confidence in Him. While we should exercise wisdom in trusting others, our deepest security belongs in the unchanging character of God, who is worthy of our trust in every season of life.

Hebrews 6:17–20
17Where in God, willing more abundantly to shew unto the heirs of promise the immutability of his counsel, confirmed [it] by an oath: 18That by two immutable things, in which [it was] impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us: 19Which [hope] we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and stedfast, and which entereth into that within the veil; 20Whither the forerunner is for us entered, [even] Jesus, made an high priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec.

God’s unchanging purpose and promise make hope an anchor whose security rests beyond shifting emotions and circumstances.
Psalm 56:3–4
3What time I am afraid, I will trust in thee. 4In God I will praise his word, in God I have put my trust; I will not fear what flesh can do unto me.

The psalmist turns fear into a cue for trust, placing confidence in God’s word without pretending fear never appears.
Living this truth
Trust the Lord wholeheartedly, but do not confuse faith with ignoring wisdom. The same God who calls us to trust Him also calls us to be discerning, seek wise counsel, and walk in wisdom. When someone has proven untrustworthy, it is not unspiritual to establish appropriate boundaries while still extending forgiveness as Christ commands. Forgiveness can be offered freely, but trust is rebuilt as repentance is demonstrated through truthfulness, humility, and consistent faithfulness over time. If you have been deeply hurt, bring your grief to the Lord and allow Him to heal your heart. Do not let the failures of people cause you to doubt the faithfulness of God. Human beings may disappoint you, but the Lord never breaks His promises or abandons His children. As you rest in His unchanging character, He will give you the wisdom to trust others rightly, the courage to forgive, and the discernment to walk faithfully in every relationship.

- Name the evidence of God’s faithfulness you can remember from a previous season.
- Identify one relationship where trust can grow through a small, honest act.
- Bring one uncertainty to wise counsel instead of choosing either suspicion or denial.
A prayer
Father God, thank You for being dependable. I choose to trust You even when it is hard. Help me to anchor my trust in You knowing that You never fail. In Jesus' Name. Amen.
